I did see some reviews of Onkyo, but those are significantly pricier for the same features. I basically evaluated these players based on features for the $$$ and selected LG. I also found that all the new models are 3-D players, but very reasonably priced. I cannot comment on the 3-D display quality, as my LG LCD TV does not have this feature.
Setup/Install:
Good labeled speaker wire with no proprietary speaker connections (I'm looking at you Sony), so you can extend the wires easy for a bigger room. No HDMI or ethernet cable. This unit does not include wi-fi. No wireless rear speakers either.
Hardware:
Cheap ipod dock, but I'm sure it's sufficient. I haven't used it yet oddly, even though I have my iPhone on hand for music all the time. But I primarily use MOG and Pandora,... Read more

New breed of HTIB. Very tight and clean integration of 4 capabilities into a single slim box, giving very good capability and sound with a lot fewer wires and at an extremely competitive price.
This Home Theater In A Box (HTIB) is a synthesis of the following appliances:
1) A blu-ray player
2) An amplifier/receiver
3) 5.1 speaker setup (front/back L/R, Center, Sub)
4) Streaming Media Player (IE: WDTV)
If you price the average for each of these at about $100 (amps run more), then this is a VERY good deal. The sound is excellent for the price. High notes are clear and crisp, plenty of bass, and the center speaker is loud and crisp for voice audio (that is its job). This is not a "cheap" sounding system, but it's probably not going to impress the audiophile. It's perfect for 90% of the market it's addressing, and for anyone who hasn't experienced surround sound, wear a seat belt and get ready for the 'wow'.

Sounds great. Plays Blu Ray 3D. Lots of features. We especially like the home media DLNA feature.
I'm using an Asus RT-N16 router with Tomato USB software. Router has 2 USB ports and with Tomato you have a lot more control over the QOS settings. Got a 2 terrabit hardrive connected to router. We're putting all our music on it. So far the LHB336 has played every audio file we've thrown at it. No more going through CDs. Put your favorite songs in a folder and select that folder in the LHB336. Wonderful.
Video looks great on our LG 55LW5600. Don't have any 3D movies to play yet so I can't speak to that.
Pros - Value. Sound. Features.
Cons - Wife hates having to use three remotes. Had me plug satellite receiver directly to TV. It is a little more complicated than our using our old TV setup. It seems you have to press a lot of buttons to get to... Read more
